Kontrast (Damien Mikey Norman) born October 11th 1986 is a British Hip-Hop Artist/Writer/Producer from Cornwall. He started writing tracks at just thirteen, and began 'freestyling’ and rhyming at a similar age. Growing up, as well as having a talent for music, he was also an extremely gifted footballer, so much so that he almost obtained a professional career. As well as writing and performing, Kontrast also produces. Lyrically, Kontrast comes in to his own. He has been recognised for his songwriting ability, distinctive style and overall prowess.
Living in Cornwall, and struggling to gain the exposure and recognition he deserved, he quickly realised that if he was to make serious moves within the music industry, he would have to relocate. At just eighteen he moved near London to pursue a career as a solo artist. Things were tough, and struggling financially he was forced to put his boots back on and begin playing football again in order to fund his music aspirations
Although Kontrast up to now has been relatively unknown within the industry, he is finally getting the exposure he deserves. His ability as a hip hop artist has been realised, and with the right people finally on board, and big plans for future projects, there is certainly lots to come from this aspiring young star. His debut single ‘That’s the way love is’ featuring Lain Gray is set for release in 2010, along with ‘Introduction’, his first album.
2010 is set to be a big year, and as Kontrast himself would say, ‘He's Goin Hard’!
